Plus, an autonomous trucking developer, and IVECO, a department of Iveco Group that designs and manufactures industrial vehicles, this week launched an automatic trucking pilot in Germany. The businesses will begin the pilot within the first half of 2024. 

Plus and IVECO are working with dm-drogerie markt, a big European retail chain of drugstores, and DSV, a transport and logistics supplier primarily based in Denmark. The pilot will contain an IVECO heavy-duty truck built-in with Plus’ AI-based, driver-supervised, extremely automated driving software program. The truck will drive alongside a DSV route to move dm-drogerie markt merchandise in Germany’s Baden Württemberg-Hessen area.

IVECO and Plus develop collaboration 

Plus and IVECO first introduced their partnership in April 2021. The businesses signed a memorandum of understanding to collectively develop autonomous vehicles. They mentioned they deliberate to deploy these vehicles throughout China, Europe, and different areas. 

In December 2021, IVECO and Plus began conducting assessments in China and Europe. The businesses completed the preliminary pilot, which centered on deep engineering integration and closed-course testing, in August 2022.
